Description: When I first learned to quilt, it was by hand. I fell in love with it. Although I free motion and do ruler work on my domestic machine, I still love to hand quilt. It is something I can take with me on road trips or wherever I may be and my machine is not available. Come learn or practice the fine art of Handquilting. We will learn about: Batting selection and testing, quilting patterns and designs including feathers, marking, needles, hoop and threads. This is a hands on/process class. I will help you learn the technique.
Fabric/Supply Requirements:
- Basic Sewing Kit
- 18″ ruler or longer
- Something for marking fabric
- 2 yards fabric (prewashed – it will make it easier) – The fabric may be in (1) 2 yard piece or 1 yard of 2 different colors. I highly suggest a solid!
- Round or oval hoop (around 12-18″)
- Sharpie permanent marker
- Thimbles
The kit will include different types of batting, a selection of quilting needles, templates and maybe a few surprises.
