21 – Tools & Tricks for Beginning Paper Piecing

Description: Have you ever looked at quilts with a Mariner’s Compass or perfect points and thought only expert quilters could make points like that? In reality, these blocks are simple to make, yet the results are stunning! Join me for the basic steps as we assemble one or two hot pads to take home. You should finish at least one in our class allotted time. You will delight in knowing how to piece both large and small projects upon completion.

Fabric Requirements:

  • I will have pattern, batting and Insul-Bright for each student.
  • Cotton Fabric – Fat 8ths for apples (1 or 2)
  • (1) fat quarter or neutral scraps for background
  • Straight stitch sewing machine
  • 6″ Add-a-Quarter ruler
  • Open-toe presser foot
  • Post Card
  • Small cutting mat and cutter
  • Scotch tape
  • Seam Ripper
  • 50 wt thread
  • 90/14 machine needles
  • Tweezers
  • Seam roller or wooden block to press seam
