Description:

Bear Lake, with a finished size of 71 by 88 inches, was created as a cuddly quilt for a lake vacation.  Making a quilt like this with oversized blocks and stretchy homespun fabrics creates its own unique challenges.  All of these unique challenges will be addressed in class.  Suitable for all skill levels, this is a very fast, very fun quilt to make.

Fabric Requirements:

  • 3 1/2 yards woven plaid or stripe (navy) Used as sashing, border & binding
  • 1 yard WV Plaid (end row of blocks)
  • 1 1/2 yards EACH (5) contrasting plaids. (It was helpful for me to pull fabrics that “sang” when placed next to each other.)
  • 1 yard woven (end row of blocks)
  • 4 1/2 yards backing (will be pieced)
  • Large cutting mat
  • 24″ acrylic ruler (2 – 8 1/2″ width)
  • Large square acrylic ruler (15″ to 18″) optional, but helpful.
  • Rotary cutter with fresh blade
  • Sewing Machine
  • Basic sewing kit
  • Thread
