Skill Level: All

Size: Blocks are 8″, so your quilt?

Pattern Fee: FREE

Description: These blocks are so fun to make. All you need is an 8 1/2″ square of a smaller printed fabric (spider web design for example) and a coordinating 5″ square of fabric print with a large print to coordinate with the other fabric (large spiders, for example). With the 5″ square, be sure and fussy cut your square so the object is centered. Then cut a 4″ circle from the 5″ square ad applique your circle on the larger square, add a handle and ta da! you have a Spyglass block. You will learn some techniques to make the applique look smooth.

I would like to have a fabric exchange. This will make it easier to get those fun combinations of fabrics. Each class member will bring a pre-cut 8 1/2″ and coordinating print of 5″ square for everyone in class. You will in return receive sets from other class members.

How you set your blocks for your quilt is up to you. I will send a couple of options along with the pattern. Add what you get in class to the fabric combinations you already have at home and you will have a fun I SPY quilt!

Two coordinating (large and small) print fabrics – bring enough of each set to exchange with class members.
